As a caregiver for an Alzheimer's patient, I live in a dual reality. One is the reality of the daily routine; doing chores, monitoring the patient's physical and emotional status and distracting myself with activities like gardening. Occasionally the patient will experience a moment of mental clarity and suddenly become aware of the disease that is devastating his brain. His heartbreaking realization strips away routine and forces us to face the "real" reality. And it always freaks us out. ~Jack
