  'Formosa'
This is a tall growing Southern Indica variety that is almost certainly the single most popular azalea in north Florida - it is everywhere. It is easy to see why when at mid-season it covers itself with huge (3 inches across) purple-lavender flowers. These plants are rugged (hardy to 10 degrees F) and form huge spreading mounds that can reach 15 feet in height..

'Ray's Rubra' is a mutant of 'Formosa' that is a deep purple-red.
