Red Maple Flowers

Red or swamp maples (Acer rubrum) is one of the first plants to flower here in Zone 8 North Florida where I live. Spring is coming early this year and some of the trees finished blooming weeks ago and are already loaded with samaras (below). Download the maple flowers in a large (800x600) format to display on your desktop.

Too Soon

azalea bud
Azalea Flower Bud
The azaleas (Rhododendron spp.) - even some of the later blooming varieties - have buds that are beginning to open. Hopefully the light freeze predicted for my area this weekend will convince them to wait a few more weeks (when all danger of frost is past...). Download a large version (800x600) to display on your computer desktop.
