Floridoogle Mashup - Plant and Product Search

Welcome to Floridoogle™ 0.91 (beta)
Floridoogle™ is a "mashup" program that helps you shop for plants and plant-related products while previewing Floridata plant information. "Mashup" means that it is a computer program that runs on your Web browser and works by collecting information and services from a number of Web resources and combines ("mashes") them together to perform a useful service. So Floridoogle helps you shop by mashing Floridata's plant information with the Google Product Search.With Floridoogle you can look up a plant, view a preview of its profile and then review all of the vendors selling that plant.

Put Floridoogle on Your Web Page
since Floridoogle is set up as a Google syndicated "gadget" you can display it on your own Web pages if you know a little bit about HTML. Click here for the Google "Add Gadget" page where you can copy a small script to paste into your web pages - it's like a mini-Floridata (with shopping) to go!.

Vendors, Have Your Products Displayed in Floridoogle
If you are a nursery, landscaper, herbalist, etc. or any product or service vendor who's business focus on plants and plant products and would like your product offers to be listed in Floridoogle's "Shop Plants" section, click here for more info about Google Product Search. Your products must be registered with this free Google service as this database is the source of Floridoogle's shopping data.

It's Experimental...
Floridoogle employs beta versions of several Google services so ocassional service disruptions are possible. Know problems and issues include an abbreviated menu of plant families in the drop down menu and the search results table is un-sorted. These will be corrected in the next couple of weeks and new features will be added. To use Floridoogle, like the rest of Floridata, Javascript must be enabled in your web browser. We also recommend using the lastest version of your browser software for best performance and security.

Floridoogle was created using the (beta) Google Mashup Editor and is deployed as a Google syndicated gadget. A "light" version of the Floridata resides in the Google Base which supplies the plant information and provides access to that data through the GBase URL query language.
