Your Florida Guide to Butterfly Gardening

by Jaret C. Daniels

Bookcover: Your Florida Guide to Butterfly Gardening
This is the third book in the "Your Florida Guide" series published by the University Presses of Florida. (The other two are Your Florida Guide to Shrubs and Your Florida Guide to Bedding Plants.) This handy little paperback includes sections on butterfly life history; butterfly conservation; butterfly garden designs for North Florida, Central Florida and South Florida; a guide to common butterfly species in Florida; a guide to plants that provide nectar for adult butterflies; and a guide to larval host plants that the butterfly caterpillars eat. There are 178 beautiful color photographs of butterflies and butterfly plants. The instructions for starting a butterfly garden are the best we have seen. Your Florida Guide to Butterfly Gardening is written in a direct, easy to follow, tutorial style. It is informative and packed with clear, concise instructions for setting up a successful butterfly garden. It tells you exactly what to do, by the numbers. Of all the books on butterfly gardening, this is probably the best one for students, teachers and counselors who just want to get outside and make a butterfly garden!

Dr. Daniels is Curator of Lepidoptera at Butterfly Kingdom Conservatory in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and has written extensively on butterflies and other insects.
