Fruit Berry and Nut Inventory
by Kent Whealy (Editor)
This book is a 518-page
reference book, listing all the fruits, berries and nuts
available to American growers today. Thousands of
cultivars are listed for more than 22 fruits, 15 berries,
37 nuts, 20 tropical fruits and dozens of miscellaneous
fruiting plants. Entries for each cultivar vary in
detail, but most include a brief description of the
plant; its distribution; fruit characteristics; cultural
requirements; hardiness zones; and sources for seeds
and/or nursery stock. The names, addresses and telephone
numbers are provided for 309 mail order nurseries.
Descriptions of each company's offerings, catalog prices
and other pertinent information are provided. This is an
invaluable tool for locating hard-to-find fruits and
nuts. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit the
non-profit Seed Savers Exchange whose primary goal is to
prevent the extinction of old-time vegetable and fruit
cultivars.
