All About Citrus and Subtropical Fruits

by Ortho Books, Maggie Blyth Klein

All About Citrus & Subtropical Fruits explains how to grow 17 kinds of exotic fruits, including over 50 varieties of citrus. There are chapters on avocado, banana, cherimoya, feijoa, fig, guava, kiwi fruit, litchi, loquat, macadamia, mango, papaya, passion fruit, persimmon, tree tomato, and white sapote, and brief descriptions of 26 others. This is a very useful reference (96 pages) for gardeners in USDA Zones 9 and 10, and even includes a section on growing subtropicals in containers for northern gardeners. For each entry there is a description, list of varieties, and information on origin, hardiness, pollination, propagation, site selection, planting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, pests, diseases, harvesting, storage of fruit, and even recipes. This is the best reference for growing subtropical fruits I have seen. The excellent color photographs alone are worth the price.
